Branded vs. compounded GLP-1
The short version: a branded GLP-1 is the FDA-approved medication the maker developed and the FDA reviewed. A compounded GLP-1 is a copy mixed by a pharmacy that the FDA has not evaluated for safety, quality or effectiveness. We get why compounded is tempting. It is often much cheaper, and most people who use it will probably be fine. The trouble is that no one independently verifies what is actually in the vial, so there is no way to know in advance whether yours is one of the good ones. That is not a risk Dr. Eduardo is willing to take with a patient, or one we think you should take with your health. Omnia prescribes branded, FDA-approved GLP-1, and works the cost problem instead.

It is a simple question, and you are entitled to a straight answer. Compounded GLP-1 costs less, and plenty of people take it without any trouble. What you do not get is any independent check on the strength or the purity of what is in the vial. Ask the question anywhere you are considering, and go in with your eyes open. Why we prescribe branded only
Cost is a real problem, and we are not going to pretend it isn't. Compounded GLP-1 is cheaper, and most people who take it will probably do fine. The issue is that nobody independently verifies the strength or purity of what is in the vial, so you cannot tell a good one from a bad one until something goes wrong. That is not a trade Dr. Eduardo is willing to make on a patient's behalf, so we put the effort into making the real medication affordable instead.
Verified, not assumed
A branded GLP-1 has a strength and purity the FDA has reviewed. With a compounded copy, no one independently checks either one. Most vials are probably fine. The problem is that you have no way to know which one you have, and neither do we.
Physician-supervised
Every medication is prescribed and monitored inside a physician-led program, with dose titration, side-effect management and follow-up. That is care, not a mail-order subscription.

The FDA has reviewed each one for safety, quality and effectiveness. A compounded GLP-1 is a copy mixed by a compounding pharmacy. Compounded versions are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, quality or effectiveness. Omnia Health prescribes branded, FDA-approved medications only.
No. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved. Compounded drugs do not go through the FDA review that branded medications complete, so their strength, purity and consistency are not verified by the agency. Most compounded doses are probably fine. The problem is that nobody checks, so there is no way for you or for us to know which ones are. That is why we do not offer them.
During national shortages of branded semaglutide and tirzepatide, federal rules temporarily allowed pharmacies to compound copies. As the branded medications came back into supply, the FDA wound those allowances down. Some clinics kept selling compounded versions, mostly because they cost far less, and we understand the appeal of that. But once the FDA-approved product is back on the shelf, a copy nobody has verified is a harder thing to justify. At Omnia the answer stayed the same: branded, FDA-approved GLP-1.
